Trish Faulkner, originally from Sydney, Australia and a former Australian Junior Tennis and Squash Champion, has been in sports and specifically tennis her whole life. While living and working in London, playing on the International tennis and squash circuit, Trish won seven tour titles, including the British Covered Courts Doubles and Mixed. Trish married and moved to the USA living in Michigan for 18 years.
While in Michigan, Trish played for the Detroit Loves WTT and became a certified USPTA professional in 1968 teaching tennis when not playing competitively. Trish also was hired by WJR Radio in Detroit to report on International Racquet Sports and she was hired to do local TV color commentary for the Virginia Slims of Detroit. She was also the North American Women’s Squash Champion and coached the Canadian Women’s Squash Team. In 1974 she started working for the USTA/WTA. She held WTA positions for 14 years - first as their Head Tour Director and then their Marketing Director. In 1983 Trish moved to Palm Beach Gardens, Florida to work full time on the WTA Tour. Trish was mainly responsible for bringing in Avon to sponsor the women’s tour when Virginia Slims stopped their sponsorship. She started her own Sports Marketing Company, Triosports International when she left the WTA in 1988.
As a world ranked Senior tennis player Trish has won 36 gold balls and an ITF World Championship as well as being part of four USA ITF World Championship Teams. Trish is in the USPTA Florida Hall of Fame and the USTA Florida Hall of Fame as well as the Palm Beach County Hall of Fame. She has been named USPTA Female Player of the Year twice. A former President of USPTA Florida, and now serving her second term as Vice President on the USPTA National Board, Trish serves on the Business Operations Task Force, The Awards Committee, The USTA/USPTA Foundation, and the Diversity and Inclusion Committee. Trish also serves as the liaison for the USPTA to the USTA D&I Committee and the WTCA and FCN (Both strong organizations promoting women in tennis and tennis coaching).
Trish authored MacMillan’s “The Complete Idiots Guide to Tennis”. She also produced a teaching manual with slides for the ITF which was translated into Arabic for the Middle Eastern countries. Other awards Presented to Trish in her long and distinguished career – National Senior Women’s Tennis Association Russo Sportsmanship Award, The LEAH Civic Visionary Award, and the Palm Beach County Outstanding Sports Contributor.
Trish has recently retired from her position as Tennis Director and Professional Emeritus after 26 years at BallenIsles Country Club in Palm Beach Gardens, Florida. She is excited to work tirelessly for the USPTA Board and members.
